Was our thoughts when we finally arrived at Treevana in Cocles. We met the owners, Lori and Ricky, at a restaurant on the one real road there is here — their treat. Super nice people, and we got an amazing first impression of them (and hopefully the same the other way around).

Ditte and I were both a bit ‘nervous’ — not about meeting them, but more about whether we would be compared to previous WorkAways… and if we could live up to that. (Psst… we could — phew).

When we got up to Treevana for the first time we were honestly mindblown — in the best way possible. Was this really where we were going to spend the next 2.5 months? Our room is in the community house, which almost no guests use, meaning we basically had a huge house and terrace to ourselves.

We got added to a WhatsApp group and received our weekly chores — with Thursdays and Sundays off. Since we arrived Friday evening, we started slow: one short workday and then straight into our first day off. Not a bad start.

The work has been simple, physical, and honestly really enjoyable. Being outside, chopping plants with a machete, setting up cabins, and doing all sorts of different tasks — we’ve loved it.

In our time off, we’ve been lucky with the beaches around us. The first 3 weeks brought a lot of rain and wind, but even then, being near the ocean felt calm and grounding. And lately… it’s completely turned around — the past 1.5–2 weeks have been nothing but sun, sun, and more sun. Absolutely fantastic.

Oh — and we recently upped our daily steps from 15,000 (our Costa Rica goal we have had since day 5) to 20,000. It takes time, of course, but we still have plenty of time for beach, relaxing, and creating content.

Now we have just under 4 weeks left, and it’s honestly crazy how fast these 2.5 months have gone. In one way, we’re very ready for the USA — in another, we’re just starting to settle in here… and already getting ready to move on again.

Guess that’s the life we’ve chosen.
