Day 13-26: Dear Puerto Jiménez

DAY 13 / Costa Rica

Ohh boy.. Puerto Jiménez, we are in love with you, the people, and the beautiful nature & wildlife all around us. We never in a million years imagined, that we would find such a lovely place here in Costa Rica. Even a place we (unplanned) wanted to spent about 3 weeks in total in.

You have given us literally hundreds of macaws, sloths, birds, monkeys, toucans, lizards and so much more. We managed to build kind of a routine walking more or less the same path 2-3 times everyday. This route simply never disappointed.

Haha plus especially Ditte loves waving, smiling and saying hola, buenas, and what not to literally every local we meet on our way. The reason why – well they all smile, wave and say it back. If not first. Everybody here just seems so nice, happy and down to earth. Slowly starting to really feel the Pura Vida culture.

We’ve had some relaxing beach time too. Mostly on Playa Preciosa which we are giving our highest recommendations. A 2-3 kilometer long beach we had almost entirely to our selves. Wow. Just wow.

We talked a lot about whether to do a Corcovado National Park tour or not. But we’ve seen so much wildlife already, and honestly don’t have the money nor conscience to pay 180 USD pr person for it.

Instead we went kayaking just the two of us a couple of times (25 USD in total for 4 hours). This was absolutely amazing, and none of us expected to see anything. But suddenly in the near horizon Benjamin yelled “DOLPHIN STRAIGHT AHEAD!”. We were flabbergasted! Soon after we saw many more, even pretty close to our little kayak – also a few turtles and flying fish.

We could write an entire book about Puerto Jiménez and how amazing this place is. Who knows, maybe we will one day. Until then, we recommend everybody to just go there, be present and suck it all in!

Day 38-77: Treevana… Wow, just wow

Was our thoughts when we finally arrived at Treevana in Cocles. We met the owners, Lori and Ricky, at a restaurant on the one real road there is here — their treat. Super nice people, and we got an amazing first impression of them (and hopefully the same the other way...
